EON stands for Enhanced Other Networks and is a feature of in car radios that uses a clever system for traffic updates. When listening to a national radio station and there is a traffic alert the EON system will use your local area and then see if there are any local traffic announcements, if there are the EON system will switch the radio station from the national announcement to the local announcement so that you get more relevant traffic information.

The EON system can also interrupt anything you are listening to such as a CD or the radio whenever there is traffic information about your area, this can be turned on or off so if you don't want to be interrupted you can switch the EON feature off. This EON feature is very useful though if you travel allot as it can warn you of possible traffic problems.
